Gaff, Maureen: The dread Reality of War; Gibbon's Brigade, August 28-September 17, 1862; in Nolan, Alan T. and Vipond, Sharon Eggleston (Hrsg.): Giants in their tall Black Hats - Essays on the Iron Brigade, Bloomington/Indiana 1998, Bibliothek Ref MilAmerik5, S. 69)+++ (Angabe wohl falsch, da Bragg LtCol der 6th Wisconsin war: +++prüfen+++. King's Report, OR 12 [2] S. 121-22). John P. *Hatch (vgl. King's Report, OR 12 [2] S. 122). Gibbons's Report OR 12 [2] S. 122). Cutler's Report OR 12 [2] S. 123).

The 3rd regiment on the list having the greatest number killed in battle is the Seventh Wisconsin Infantry, of the famous Iron Brigade, Wadsworth s (First) Division, First Corps. This gallant regiment stands high in the list, Because of its many battles and the persistency with which it would hold its ground in the face of the deadliest musketry. By glancing at the table of percentages, it will be seen that the Seventh occupies an honorable place in that list also. (vgl. Fox: Regimental Losses, a.a.O., S. 2)

Documents/Literature:

- **Jones, Jenkin Lloyd (Private, 6th Wisconsin Battery): An Artilleryman's Diary (Wisconsin History Commission, 1914); The crude record of a boy who never dreamed of publication and the State of Wisconsin that the Private of the 6th Wisconsin Battery is responsible for the printing. May it be a mute protest against war. J.L.J." - at the Abraham Lincoln Centre, May 7, 1914" - Jenkin Jones was Uncle to Frank Lloyd Wright and figures prominently in the famous architect's biography (by Meryle Secrest)- Jones was a pastor and missionary in Illinois and Wisconsin following the war, revitalizing a Unitarian Church, starting a Unitarian newspaper and becoming a rather important public speaker. He went on to work with Jane Addams, Susan B. Anthony, E. E. Hale, Booker T. Washington, William Jennings Bryant and others on issues from prohibition to pacifism. Wright left school to work for Silsbee, the architect Jenkin Lloyd Jones had hired to build the All Souls Unitarian Church in Chicago. Jenkin Lloyd Jones was violently opposed to slavery and an ardent admirer of Lincoln. This inscription was signed at the Abraham Lincoln Centre - a project Frank Lloyd Wright worked on for several years for his "Uncle Jenks" before it's dedication in 1905. A Rare Piece of Americana for it's ties to the 6th Wisconsin Battery, the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright and one of the most famous and fascinating Privates to emerge from the Civil War.
