Missouri (US):

1854 hatte Missouri eine Sklaven-Bevölkerung von 100000 Menschen, von denen 2/3 in Plantagen in den Counties an der Kansas-Border 'gehalten' wurden ( Starr, Jennison's Jayhawkers, a.a.O., S. 4; Nevins: Ordeal of the Union [vol 5]: The Improvised War, a.a.O., S. 332; Lewis, Lloyd: "Propaganda and the Kansas-Missouri-War," Missouri Historical Review, XXXIV [1939], S. 14).

The total number of men who served from Missouri on the side of the Union was approxiamately 110,000 and 90,000 on the side of the Confederacy but the total number will never be known for sure. The following list of Urion Forces from Missouri has been generated by the Missouri Commandery of MOLLUS from Frederick H. Dyer's "A Compendium of the War of the Rebellion, V.III" and includes 445 Union troops. This three volume set can be found in many libraries.
